Production Chemistry is at the centre of Shell’s oil and gas production business.  Across the globe, our people can be found working within project teams in the development phase of new and exciting projects. They can also be found supporting well construction and surface production operations in one of our Operating Units, which also includes the management of chemistry laboratories.

Production chemists are also in our Innovation, Research & Development centres, where they work on exciting new technologies including novel waterflooding, EOR (including, polymers, surfactants and solvents), improved isolation techniques through novel cements & swelling elastomers, water/gas shut-offs, acid stimulation and fracturing treatments. The Production Chemistry discipline also owns chemical products and waste stream management with the clear objective of reducing exposure in terms of Health, Safety and Environment.
