Iraq Petroleum Development (SIPD) is the lead operator of Majnoon, one of the world’s largest oil fields in the world, and has developed the asset alongside its partners Petronas, Missan Oil Company and permit holder South Oil Company.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EMajnoon, located 37 miles away from Basrah in Southern Iraq, is estimated by the Iraqi Government to hold around 38 billion barrels of oil in place and is currently producing more than 200,000 barrels per day.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003ETo share the benefits of the field with the local communities, such as Al Nashwa situated adjacent to Majnoon, SIPD has implemented a series of social performance initiatives in collaboration with local leaders, tribes and strategic partners such as United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EAs a result of a public engagement in Al Nashwa, a sub-district of the Shatt Al Arab district in Basrah Province, UNDP highlighted a lack of economic opportunities as a major concern triggering the launch of the Majnoon Livelihood programme.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EIn Q3 2014, 13 businesses were established to support entrepreneurship and meet local community demands through grocery stores, a bakery, car repair, carpentry services and other initiatives.\u003C/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EBy providing continued support and advice the businesses continues to develop positively whilst serving the needs of the local
